Big Sky

As we were on the road, moving to Wachapreague, I got a call from Lori, who runs Center Framing & Art in West Hartford Center.  Owners of a new restaurant - a farm-to-table, local foods place - came into the store, and bought 11 of my paintings to decorate their restaurant! All the art in the place will be by me!

Not only is this fabulous in terms of sales, but imagine the exposure that this will bring, too.

I am awed and thankful for these miracles - the cover of the Hartford Courant magazine, the day after I left my job; and now this, as we were driving toward our new life.

This move, this huge change, this comes with its own share - and then some - of fear and questioning. But when things like this happen, my faith in what we're doing is strengthened.

The clouds in Connecticut were amazing, in the first weeks of July. I painted "Big Sky" in the large-vehicle parking lot of Mohegan Sun, overlooking the Thames River. It's a great place to get a huge view of sky, unimpeded by trees, buildings, civilization.

I have cool postcards with selected shows listed on them. If you think you're not on my mailing list, and you'd like to be, please click here to send me an email with your snail mail address, and I will get a postcard out to you!

So happy for you no one deserves it more! Your work is so beautiful that restaurant will now be gorgeous because they were smart enough to hang your paintings! The world is telling you “you are doing the right thing! “So glad you are going for it!

Beautiful new painting! And congratulations on the great opportunity for some exposure of your skill! I'm on the hunt for local places who would take some of my pieces in. It's great to hear that everything's going so well for you!

Great news, Carrie!

I wish I would have made that visit to your home to see your paintings before it was too late...

But, it seems like I just might be seeing your work in lots of other places!

My best to you!

Thank you so much, Me Now! I agree, it is the universe telling me that this is right. xo

Thank you, Chelsea! I have exhibited my work in restaurants, stores, banks, hospitals and doctor's offices. Lots of places are happy to take them and hang them - so my advice would be to take courage in hand, march yourself in there and ask if you could hang a few paintings on their walls. You might get no sales (I've sold four paintings all together from the walls of local businesses) but people will see your paintings and your name!

Wow Carrie!! Wow and wow and wow! Congratulations!

If that ever happened to me, I would faint!

I hope you'll get to post a photo of the restaurant with your art in place.

Belated kudos on your booth, too. It really looks professional, well designed and inviting.

Hey, Patrice, thanks for the note! I am going to meet the restaurant owner Monday, and will indeed take photos. The purchase is down to five paintings, which is still fabulous - but isn't 11. But still, it's an amazing purchase and I am grateful.
