This is just a small inlet near the Jamestown Bridge. Something municipal - the transfer station? the water treatment station? was just up the hill behind me. I wonder if this is a beach that anyone ever uses for anything. It has the feel of an afterthought, really - but I bet in the summer, people use it.
At any rate, it was a gray old day, and I found I really liked it. Love the sky, and the gray sweep of the beach. Seagulls squawked at me, and one guy came along and let his dog run here.
Minutes after I finished the painting, a snow squall blew in. Whew!

I like the grayness - and I'm responding to your comment on FB about having too much? I don't think so. I think you've got movement in the water and it makes the scene a little stormy but that is your artistic license to do so.

Thanks, Judy - I appreciate the critique, and am so glad you like the painting. I do like the water, too - maybe I'll try another one with smoother water, just to see - the day was stormy, as you say - but there was no wind. It was odd.

Thanks, Rachel - I like the chop, too - and the sort of accidental colors and waves that come along with it. Your stuff is beautiful, as well - so delicate and pretty. Art is amazing, isn't it, that we can do what we do and still respond to work that is almost entirely opposite ours!
I love the photo of the painting in the context of the scene. It gives it a great context. I'd love to see more of those!
